February 2011 The Bifurcated DevOps Talk -- For Developers
Wondering what DevOps is? Wondering if it's what your organization needs, or if you're already doing it? Wondering if this entire talk is just a contrived excuse to use the word "Bifurcated" in a technical abstract? Well then this is the talk for you!
Some of the items The Bifurcated DevOps Talk (For Developers) aims to cover:
* What the heck is DevOps anyway?
* How is it better than traditional "Over the Wall" management? How is it worse?
* Does it only work for small startups, or can it work in a large company too?
* What are some things we should have in place in any DevOps shop?
* What kind of obstacles can you expect to encounter transitioning a traditional environment to a DevOps approach?
o How can you overcome them?
The topics will be approached from the Developer's point of view, with a focus on minimizing time spent debugging code that "Worked in Testing" and maximizing the amount of time that can be spent building new features.
This is an audience-participation and discussion-driven talk -- The use of evil PowerPoint slides will be kept to a minimum (If audience participation is found to be lacking additional slides will be inflicted!)
