I think you are out of luck on this one - perhaps you can rewrite your app
to use another graphics tool somehow?  Give us an idea of what you need GD
support for, and perhaps we can provide some suggestions on alternative
tools/methods.

Ironically, this topic of taking down a machine to recompile PHP came up at
the last meeting as well.  Speaking as someone who is responsible for
machines staying up, I wouldn't want do this unnecessarily, either.  It is
not just one recompile, but you then marry yourself to "roll your own" PHP
binary forever, which could prove to be time consuming.

Oops!  Sorry about the blank e-mail.  The system is running Linux
www.therealmac.net/phpinfo.php has further information.  Apparently the
host doesn't want to take the system down for any non-critical reason.
Shrug :/
